As part of a major fleet upgrade the Italian Navy has once again chosen EN Handler as their aircraft deck handling system.
Six units of the latest specification Mk2C version have been ordered to compliment rather than replace the existing EN Handler fleet the oldest of which have been in service for over 15 years, on board the Italian naval fleet.
Fully computerised battery charging and battery maintenance, digitised traction management which includes full acceleration and deceleration mapping to avoid excessive airframe / undercarriage loadings, and the latest thinking in regenerative braking systems all contribute refinement to this well proven and reliable non embedded aircraft deck handling system.
Operating on deck where conditions are often very hostile, the EN Handler allows complete freedom of operation for the operator that would not be available with embedded or tracked systems. The EN Handler’s extremely low centre of gravity complements the stability of the aircraft during the most violent deck movements.
