The UK MoD have demonstrated their confidence in the Douglas RAM MAMAS (Multi Aircraft Matrix Acquisition System) aircraft deck handling system by ordering 38 more units bringing the total fleet to 70 units.
Originally designed as a deck handling system for the Lynx Mk8 in order to overcome the deck handling problems caused by the large under slung chin radome on this aircraft, the RAM has quickly established itself as a versatile, stable and maneuverable solution for many other aircraft types, including Sea King, Merlin EH101, Harrier, Tornado, Puma and Apache.
Other Defence organisations to have ordered Ram include the South African Navy, The Royal New Zealand Navy, The Saudi Arabian Airforce, The Lithuanian Airforce, and The US Navy.
