Issue 199 of the award winning Top Gear Magazine contains a feature on the Douglas TBL600 in the Extreme Drives section. Piers Ward, Road Test Editor, contacted Douglas to discuss the opportunity of featuring the vehicle and it was agreed that a unit would be shipped to Cotswold Airport for filming.
On a very wet and windy day in the Cotswolds the combined forces of Douglas Equipment, Top Gear Magazine, Cotswold Airport and Air Salvage International put the huge Tugmaster through it's paces. Mr Nick Howard of Cotswold Airport gave the green light to his Control Tower and the runway was closed to allow the powerful machine to tow an Airbus A300 up and down the concrete strip.
The machine performed faultlessly, as expected, and the article in Top Gear Magazine reflects this success by awarding the TBL600 18 points out of a possible 20.
Many thanks to everyone who assisted during the day, special thanks to Piers Ward (Top Gear Magazine), Nick Howard (Cotswold Airport), Mark Gregory (Air Salvage International) & Ian Kennedy (Douglas Equipment)
